Project Opportunities

Trimaran Cutaway
The CCDoTT annual program development begins with the solicitation of “2 page” project description submissions. These papers provide an overview of each project, what issue it intends to address, what will be accomplished, and a proposed cost to complete. When compiled, these briefs are used as the source from which CCDoTT reviews and selects projects that meet the program objectives for the coming year.
The goal of the CCDoTT program is not just to perform academic research, but to validate a technology through prototype tests and demonstrations in preparation for handoff to the commercial or military end user.
As the CCDoTT program is funded through the Department of Defense, projects must have a military as well as a commercial utility. A statement of this dual-use potential is to be included in the project paper.
CCDoTT R&D efforts are focused on the following program areas:
- High-Speed Ship Systems
- Design Tools
- Seabase Support Systems
- Agile Port and Terminal Systems
- Advanced Technology Cargo Movement Systems
- Rapid Deployment Technologies
- Port Disruption and Recovery
- Decision Support Tools
- American Marine Highways/Short Sea Shipping
- Defense Support for Humanitarian Assistance
- Technology Transition and Outreach Support
- CSULB Innovation Cell Program
The programs include consideration of both ongoing projects and new initiatives. Both require a project description to be submitted. In the case of ongoing projects, the timing associated with completion of the current project and delay or overlap between the subsequent project should be considered.
Calls for project descriptions are issued on an annual basis, however project descriptions may also be submitted on a “open” basis for future consideration. This page provides a downloadable Project Description Template with the format that must be used in preparation of your project submission.
Submittals not conforming to the template will be considered as “non-responsive”.
